Next week is National Families Week and to celebrate Shropshire Council’s Sure Start Children’s Centres are holding a variety of events for families to take part in.

The week which runs from the 31 May – 6 June is a national celebration of family and family life designed to encourage families to live healthy, active lifestyles.

 

Some of the events being run include family picnics in the park in Oswestry with fun activities such as face painting, bug hunting, a treasure hunt, craft activities and playdough, music and singing and the playbus.  Family Drop-Ins will also be run in south Shropshire and Shrewsbury at tea time and Saturday mornings to include working parents.  The Children’s Centres team will also be running another “Get Active Day” for parents to get involved in activities with their children.

Councillor Cecilia Motley, Lead Member for Children and Young People’s Services said: “The events that Shropshire Council’s Sure Start Children’s Centres are holding next week provide an excellent opportunity for families to come along, find out more about what Childrens' Centres can offer them and also spend some quality time together.”

Sure Start Children’s Centres offer a variety of services for families with children under five years including:

·          Childminding
·          Family Support
·          Support for children and parents with special needs
